Frances A. Buerger

Frances A. Buerger, 91, passed peacefully into her heavenly home on Thursday, June 21, 2018.

A lifelong resident of Cheboygan, Frances was born March 23, 1927, the daughter of Charles V. and Selina M. (Gouin) Buerger.  She attended Catholic Elementary School and graduated from Cheboygan High School, prior to her beauty school training at Virginia Ferril Delmar School of Cosmetology in Detroit.  She had been engaged to Marty Enos, but never married as Marty lost his life in the sinking of the great lakes freighter, the Carl T. Bradley in 1958.  After a short career as a beautician, Fran used her creativity doing window displays and working in local retail sales.  After many years she then retired from Procter and Gamble where she worked in the quality control lab.

Fran’s retirement was spent on her passion of researching and documenting Cheboygan history and genealogy, and volunteering as a docent at Fort Michilimackinac and the historical museum.    Frances was a member of the Genealogy Society and the Friends of the Library.

Surviving are her nieces, Nan Buerger (Timothy) Maczka,  Jan Fusina, and Cynthia (Robert) Taylor, a nephew, Steven (Debra) Buerger, ten great nieces and nephews, ten great great nieces and nephews with one more on the way, and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Charles J. Buerger

The family is ever grateful to the staff at the Brook and also much appreciation goes out to Hospice of Michigan for her short duration under their care.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 11:00am at St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church in Cheboygan, with visitation beginning at 10:00am, also at the church.  Rev. Duane Wachowiak will officiate, burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
