Frank Charles Daniels, Sr. lived for 92 years before he was called home peacefully surrounded by family on May 5, 2023. Frank was born January 10, 1931 to Joseph and Mildred (Stewart) Daniels in Petoskey, Michigan. He was the 3rd of 7 children.
Frank married Betty Sobleskey on September 29, 1951 in Cheboygan, Michigan and made their home in Petoskey. In 1951 Frank was called to serve in the Marines and remained in the service until 1953. Frank worked for Merchants Delivery and Batterbee Ice Company, Barnums, and later retired from Michigan Maple Block Company after being there for almost 40 years. Frank also started Daniels Excavating and Pig Farm, (starting with a horse and buggy) – which he worked diligently at until he was almost 90.
Frank was a strong, stubborn, hard-working, loving man. He was not afraid to get his hands dirty, loved farming and driving his tractors and skid-steer. He also had fun riding around the block and back roads checking on family and friends and looking for wildlife and berries! He also enjoyed watching the birds on his feeders. He could tell you what the what the weather was going to do – was usually right – and until his last days wanted to know ‘What’s it doing out there?’
Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mildred (Stewart) Daniels; wife, Betty (Sobleskey) Daniels; sisters, Mary Jo Sobleskey, Marion Dreffs and Catherine Bellmer; brothers, John, Joseph Jr., and William Daniels; a son, Dale Daniels; and 2 grandchildren, Rebecca Hall and Courtney Daniels.
