Obituary

Frank Scanlon, 80, of Cheboygan, Michigan, passed away at his home on March 11, 2023. Born on August 7, 1942 to Francis and Mona Scanlon (Reid), Frank grew up all over the country while his father was in the Coast Guard. After graduating high school, Frank followed in his father’s footsteps and also joined the Coast Guard and served for 22 years. In 1997 Frank married his best bud, Cathy McLaughlin, and they enjoyed each other’s company for 26 years. Frank had a great sense of humor and loved to play pranks on Cathy and her son Randy. He was a man of giving second chances, always willing to help, and he loved everyone.

He enjoyed deer hunting on his property, and when his health started to decline, he would still hunt but he would make Randy go and track the deer for him. Frank is survived by his wife Cathy, five sons; Patrick and William Scanlon, Randy Goggin, Josh Goggin and Matt Goggin, two brothers; John and Jim Scanlon, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his two beloved dogs, Buddy and Baby. There are no services planned at this time.
