Gail (Neumann) Sweany

Martha Gail (Neumann) Sweany, “Gail”, 90, of Levering, Michigan passed away on March 18, 2025, at her home on the beautiful shore of Douglas Lake. Gail was born on October 17, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the only child of Harriet Agnes (McAfee) Neumann and Christopher L. Neumann. She attended Dearborn High School and graduated in 1951. Gail spent many years of her life raising her family and building a home for them with the love of her life and husband Robert Clarence Sweany. She worked later in life as a secretary in the insurance industry before she retired in 1996.

Gail was known for her love of all animals. She was known for her timely feeding of a large variety of birds and other wildlife that enjoyed visiting her each day, and all creatures great and small were welcome to her. She had two cats and a dog, and she spent many hours of her life tending to them and the natural splendor that surrounded her home. Gail was an active member of Zion Christian Fellowship Church of Brutus, MI, and of the Red Hat Society of Alanson, MI.

She is survived by her sons: Christopher Sweany, Steven (Laura) Sweany, and Robert (Dyan) Sweany, II.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Sweany; daughter Anita Sweany; and her parents Harriet and Christopher Neumann.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Zion Christian Fellowship Church on Saturday April 12, 2025 at 12pm. A visitation will be held from 11:30am until the start of the service. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Zion Christian Church is located at 6590 Maple River Rd., Brutus, MI 49716.
