Gary Benjamin Boers

Gary Benjamin Boers, 67, of Indian River, went to be with his Lord peacefully in his sleep on July 6, 2019.

Gary was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Catherine and James Boers. He was a dedicated and hard working employee of Meijer for 41 years, where he made many friends.

Gary was a quiet and gentle soul who loved classic cars, playing his bass guitar, listening to music, especially the Ventures, and watching old John Wayne movies. Gary loved to take his green 1978 Ranchero, "Kermit" out for cruises and to classic car shows.

Gary was a lover of animals. His calm nature always drew animals to him wherever he went. He had a special love of horses, and most of all, his two puppies, Rosie and Odie, who he loved dearly.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine and James Boers.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Gail, his son James (Beverly) Boers, granddaughters Cierra and Sage, brother, Steve (Kellie) Boers, step-daughter, Suzanne (Scott) Francis, grandchildren, Stella, Scarlett and Sullivan, step-daughter, Sarah (Brian) Berndt, grandchildren Andrew and Julianna, and great granddaughter, Emily and puppies Rosie and Odie.

A memorial service will take place at the Indian River United Methodist Church, 956 Eagles Nest Rd. on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 11:00am with the family greeting friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Cheboygan County Humane Society.

Gary will be dearly missed by his family and friends. "We will always carry your memory in our hearts."
