Gary Henry Brisson, 90, of Boyne City, Michigan, passed away on July 7, 2025, at his home.
The son of Clara Brisson, Gary was born on July 19, 1934, in Bay City, Michigan. He grew up in Bay City and attended school at St. Joseph Catholic High School. He then went on to Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to receive his bachelor’s degree in education. After that he went to Wayne State University to get his master’s degree in Detroit, Michigan.
On August 3, 1957, he married Carole Ann Morrison in Bay City.
Gary was the head coach for football, basketball, and track and field at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Chesaning, Michigan, and St. Mary’s in Bay City. He retired from the Detroit Public Schools as a principal in 1997.
He enjoyed going to all three of his sons’ sports activities and events.
Gary was a member of the St. Matthew Catholic Church of Boyne City, and the Knights of Columbus in Chesaning.
Gary is survived by his wife Carole (Morrison) Brisson; sons Daniel (Janet) Brisson and Paul (Diana) Brisson; grandsons Andrew Brisson, Patrick Knickerbocker, Justin Brisson, and William Knickerbocker; and great-grandsons Benjamin Knickerbocker, and Revan Brisson.
He is preceded in death by his son John P. Brisson; daughter Anne M. (David) Knickerbocker; grandson Christopher Knickerbocker; and mother Clara Brisson.
Those wishing to make a charitable donation in Gary’s memory are asked to consider the Charlevoix Area Humane Society in Boyne City.
A graveside service officiated by Father Dennis Stilwell will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery on August 8, 2025 at 1:00 PM.
