Geneva Marie Pappas, 94, of Harbor Springs, died July 15, 2019 at Hiland Cottage, Petoskey, Michigan.
Daughter of Garret and Josephine (Gwilt) Windt, Geneva was born January 11, 1925 in Cheboygan. Geneva grew up in Mackinaw City and attended Mackinaw High School.
Geneva married Floyd Johnson who preceded her in death in 1954, and remarried George Pappas in July of 1982.
Geneva was a hard worker all her life. After Floyd passed she was a single mother working multiple jobs to support her family. Geneva worked as a manager at the Mackinaw City branch of the Cheboygan bank while working full time with the Bell Telephone Company as an operator. She was also the secretary of the Mackinaw City school board for many years.
Geneva's faith followed her to where ever her travels took her. She was a member of Church of the Straits in Mackinaw City, and the Athanoso Church of Gulf Shores, Alabama. She also sang in the church choir.
Traveling and dancing with George were things that Geneva loved to do. They spent many winters with friends in Alabama.
Geneva was a neat and tidy and worked hard for everything she had.
Surviving her is her husband George; her son Douglas (Donna) Johnson; and her granddaughters Lexi and Liza.
A visitation to honor Geneva's memory will be on Saturday July 20, 2019 at 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Schiller Funeral Home, Harbor Springs. A funeral services will be officiated by David Tuggle on Sunday July 21, 2019 at 2:00 PM.
