Geneva was born in North Chicago, Illinois, May 21, 1926. She was a child during the Great Depression Era. As a young women she met Kenneth Donald LaCount and they were married on October 7, 1945 in Norman, Oklahoma when he returned from a deployment from the South Pacific.
Geneva and Ken settled in Michigan and raised their children there. He passed in 1963.
In 1967 Geneva married Paul Young. She was employed for many years for JC Penny in charge of the fabric/sewing department. She owned and operated Petoskey Bridal Salon for nine years.
Geneva had a great love for sewing and quilting and was a very accomplished seamstress. She thoroughly enjoyed her work.
Geneva loved birds and flowers and she and her husband Paul enjoyed gardening together. They had beautiful gardens. Geneva also loved fishing with her husband. She loved dogs, especially her dog Daisy.
Geneva loved the Lord and was a faithful member of St. Francis Parish where she enjoyed many friends.
Geneva is survived by her children: Ronald (Ryoko) LaCount, Cherie (Gerald) Kalchik, John (Debbie) LaCount and Annette LaCount; her step children: Penny (Joe) Sterly, Cathy (Jim) VanTreese, Diana Potts, Jeannie (the late Herman) Cease, Ken (Lena), and Barb Cross; and her many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Geneva was preceded in death by her husbands: Kenneth LaCount and Paul Young. She was also preceded in death by her infant twins Leo and Mary, her sons Michael and Greg LaCount and stepson Ray Young.
Those wishing to make a charitable donation in Geneva's memory are suggested by family to do so to the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church of Petoskey, Michigan.
A memorial mass for Geneva will be officiated by Father Greg McCallum on February 25, 2020 at 10:30 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. A visitation will begin at 9:30 AM.
