George Warner Obituary

George Michael Warner, age 75, died peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at home with his loving family. He was born on December 15, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan to George and Dorothy (Wagner) Warner. On November 5, 2015 he was united in marriage to Constance at Topinabee Community Church in Topinabee, Michigan. George and Connie met through their mutual passion for guarding sturgeon with Sturgeon for Tomorrow, Black Lake Chapter.

George was very involved in his community. Whether handing out bubbles for St. Paul’s UMC on the 4th of July or dressing up as Santa for Halloween to give out candy downtown, his desire to connect with people always shone through. He loved to cook, and volunteered his onion chopping skills to make pasties every month with the Vietnam Vets. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to fish and cherished his time at deer camp with friends and family.

George was very proud of his military service with the United States Air Force, and spoke particularly fondly of his time in Türkiye in the 1970’s. He had a quick wit and a story for everyone he met, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

George is survived by his devoted wife, Connie. Children: Michelle (Brad) Martin, Martin Dinner, Margaret (Steve West) Dinner, and Sean Dinner. Grandchildren: Julia Martin and Addie West. Sisters: Arlene Brandewie, Mary Ellen (Matthew) Jones, Dotty Clark, Theresa (Richard) Dyc and Patti (Bob) Ahlgren and many nieces, nephews and treasured friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Dolores Page and Susan Hallahan, and brothers-in-law Paul Page, Richard Brandewie and Garry Clark.

A memorial service for will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Cheboygan on Saturday October 25th at 1pm. Military honors will follow in the memorial garden and a luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall.
