Geraldine Ruth (Whitford) Burgess

Geraldine R. Burgess, age 93, from Boyne City, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at the wonderful community of Grandvue in East Jordan, Michigan. 

Geraldine was born July 7, 1926 in Ashley, Michigan to Gerald and Opal (Lane) Whitford.  A proud graduate of Henry Ford School of Nursing in 1946, she pursued her nursing career with care and compassion, followed by a career as a business owner in Traverse City before retiring to the family cottage in northern Michigan.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Boyne City and served on the Committee of WinSome Women. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard and brother Roy. 

Geraldine is survived by her beloved children, Jerry (Pam) and Jill; grandchildren, Jana (Tyler), JC, Ian, Brooke and Hannah; and great-grandchildren, Jax and Easton. 

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 28, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church, 401 S. Park Street, Boyne City, Michigan, 49712.  A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Geraldine’s name to Grandvue Medical Care Facility, 1728 S. Peninsula Road, East Jordan, MI 49727, or the First Presbyterian Church of Boyne City.
