Gregory Romanik Obituary

Gregory A. Romanik, known to his loved ones as Gregg, passed away on May 7, 2023, at the age of 52 after a battle with lung cancer. Born on November 20, 1970, to Walter S. Romanik and Marilyn A. Romanik (Ross). Gregg was a beloved son, brother, husband, and father. Gregg was married to Tonya Romanik (Weiss) in August 2005, and together they raised a daughter, Tess Romanik. Gregg also felt fortunate to become a stepfather to Tyler Molag and Taryn Molag. Gregg is survived by his wife, daughter, stepchildren, and his sister Marcia Railton and her husband Steven Railton. Unfortunately, his sister Brenda Sangster passed away in September 2022. Gregg was born and raised in Cheboygan, and though he lived in other places throughout his life, he always returned to his roots in Riggsville. He resided in the home his father had grown up in, and he loved his hometown deeply. He was a man of many interests and had a thirst for knowledge. He was always reading and listening to podcasts, and he was particularly passionate about all things related to the stars, moon, and earth. He was known to be an expert on the topic, and he loved to quiz his friends and family about what they knew. Gregg enjoyed playing games of all kinds, but his favorite pastime was sitting by a bonfire with his loved ones, sharing stories and enjoying the night sky. Gregg worked at Cheboygan Cement for the last three years of his life, but he had worked in a variety of industries throughout his career including his parents Christmas tree farm and buffalo and elk ranch, and had even spent several years driving a semi for the fracking industry in Montana. Gregg was a cherished member of his family and had a special bond with his many nieces and nephews, including Myranda Sangster, Taylor Sangster, Anna Sangster, Chase Railton, and Josie Railton. His family and friends will miss his kind heart and spirit, his passion for life, and his love for learning. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
