Harold Gaylon Garver, age 85, longtime resident of Michigan, peacefully joined the Lord on March 22, 2026 in Charlevoix, Michigan. Harold was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, a pillar of his family, and loved by many friends.
He was born at home in McDougal, Arkansas on December 8, 1940, to the late Audie James Garver and Mattie Inez Garver. He worked for General Motors for 30 years, retiring at the age of 55.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Susie Irene Garver (Atkins). Married July 27, 1971. The first time they met was on a blind date and they joked they were blinded forever. “Most of all we just loved living life together, I will miss him deeply”.
He was preceded in death by son Audie Ray Garver. He is survived by his son Michael Lee Garver (Kim) and Daughter Sheila Deanna Ramos (Mark); brother, Wendell Delaine Garver (Skeet) and many nieces and nephews.
Together they received great pleasure spending time with their grandchildren Justine Gavin (Garver), Justin Gavin, Mark Ramos, Starrdai Ramos, Audie Garver Jr, and Alexizz Galvin (Garver). Their great grandchildren Mira, Oscar, Harper, Ava, Israel, Eli, Zoe, and Acer.
Harold was a devoted member of the Church of Christ. He loved being outdoors tinkering around his property, gardening, dancing, music, and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered for many things including his sense of humor and stubbornness.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey, MI. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a service to follow at 12:00 p.m., Reverend Dale DuVerney will be officiating. A luncheon will be held at Courtyard Marriott hotel in Petoskey, MI after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rogers City Church of Christ, or Hospice of Emmet County.
