Henrietta Darlene (Dixon) Massey

Henrietta Darlene Massey, 90, of Boyne City, Michigan, passed away on November 19, 2025 at The Brook in Boyne City surrounded by family.

Daughter of Harry and Henrietta (Gillis) Dixon, Darlene was born on September 25, 1935 in Charlevoix, Michigan. In her early years, she grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and then moved to Boyne Falls, Michigan. She graduated from Boyne Falls Public School.

On June 22, 1956, she married Ronald F. Massey in Boyne City.

Prior to marriage Darlene worked at numerous restaurants of her father’s across Northern Michigan. She then worked 30 plus years at Butler Drugs in Boyne City.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends at her and Ron’s cabin in Chandler Township. Darlene loved picking mushrooms, bonfires and crocheting.

Darlene was a member of the United Methodist Church of Boyne City.

Darlene is survived by her children: Ronald F. H. (Linda) Massey, Randolph (Tina) Massey, and Robert Massey; her grandchildren: Christopher (Sara) Massey Nikki (Todd) Petrie, Joseph (Lisa) Wilson, Blair Massey, Aitana Massey, and Myah Massey; great-grandchildren: Chase Massey, Blake Massey, and Alexis Petrie; her siblings: Christine Hosmer, Colleen (Ron) Nessen, Bruce Dixon, Bill Dixon, and Eddie Dixon; and many other family members, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by both her parents, and husband Ronald F. Massey.

A private family graveside service will take place at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Boyne City.

In lieu of flowers, those charitable donations in Darlene’s memory can be made to Traverse City Munson Healthcare Hospice or The Brook of Boyne City.
