Ivars Reskevics

Ivars Reskevics, 88, of Petoskey, died October 11, 2021 at Munson Hospital in Charlevoix, Michigan.

Ivars was born on March 24, 1933, in Cesis, Latvia, the son of Nikolajs and Edite (Wilhelmine) Reskevics. At age 17, he immigrated to the United States. He joined the United States Army in 1953. He proudly served his new country as a Corporal until he was honorably discharge in 1955.

During the late 1960’s, he owned and operated Howell Greenhouse in Howell, Michigan.

Ivars started a family and opened his first Party Store in Centerline, Michigan. He married Inge Dreilich in 1971. He later relocated to the Petoskey and Harbor Springs area, where he owned and operated Ivars Party Store from 1972-1995.

On May 29, 1990, he married Pauline Bellmer. They would spend the next 31 years happily married.

Ivars enjoyed the outdoors and all it had to offer; everything from hunting, fishing, tending his flower garden, and raising many ducks, chickens, and rabbits. He loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline; his children, Vija (Lance) Wilkinson of Pennsylvania, Anita (Jeff) Faust of Houghton Lake, Walter Reskevics of Maple City, and Andrejs (Kate) Reskevics of Harbor Springs ; step-children, Michael Kullik, and Bradford (Alice) Kullik, both of Petoskey; grandchildren, Scott Wilkinson, Julia Wilkinson, Steven (Kristie) Faust, Michael (Amber) Faust, Stephanija Reskevics, Nikolajs Reskevics, and Aaron Kullik; great grandchildren, Scarlett, Sawyer, Bridgette, Clara, and Lilah Faust.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Leon Reskevics; and son, John "Julio" Richard Olsen.

His family is planning an intimate service for Spring 2022.
