Jack Landane Obituary

Jack Landane, 91 of Harbor Springs and Petoskey, Michigan passed away on March 12, 2020 at his home in the presence of his loving family.

Son of George and Ida (Fisher) Landane, Jack was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 17, 1928. He moved to Bay City, Michigan where he grew up and graduated from Bay City Central High School. While growing up Jack was a member of the Boy Scouts and made Eagle Scouts while in school. Jack also enjoyed playing basketball in high school and junior college. He went to Central Michigan University where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business.

Jack married Joan Downer and they spent 52 happy years together. In October 2003 Jack married his second wife, Marilyn Wood at the First Presbyterian Church in Harbor Springs.

For a majority of Jack's working life he worked at Borden Dairy in Bay City. He started by delivering milk by horse and buggy and finished working in sales and administration. Jack then opened his own material handling business in Bay City.

Jack's family was the most important thing in his life. He loved spending time with them. Jack was a kind, ethical man that was everything good. He also liked to golf and started at the Bay City County Club. During retirement he golfed at Birchwood Farm Golf Course & Country Club in Harbor Springs.

Jack was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bay City and Harbor Springs. He sang in the choir at both churches and was an elder in Bay City.

Jack is survived by his wife Marilyn Landane; his children: Susan Farnham, Stephen (Tom) Landane, Scott (Karen) Landane, and Shari (Rick) Vedder; his grandchildren: Kevin, Mark, Jennifer, Katie, Ryan, Kristen, Kimberly, Kelsey, and Blake; his 14 great-grandchildren; his stepchildren: Stephen, Lori, Kristy, and Cheryl; his 10 step-grandchildren; his extended family; and his so many loving friends.

Preceding Jack in death are his wife Joan Landane, and sister Dorthy Leffler.

Those wishing to make a charitable donation are suggested by family to do so to the First Presbyterian Church in Harbor Springs, Michigan or Hospice of Michigan.

A memorial service for Jack will be held on July 25, 2020 at the First Presbyterian Church in Harbor Springs at 11:00 AM. A visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and a luncheon will follow.
