James Garforth Butler

James Garforth Butler, 66, of Boyne City, Michigan, passed away at his home on September 11, 2025.

Son of George and Virginia (Garforth) Butler, James was born on June 22, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

James was married to Liz Cote. They married on June 19, 1987, at St. Hugo of the Hills Church in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

With a tool and die making background, James worked as an automotive parts sales representative. He worked for Siegel-Roberts, and The Lynch Group.

James loved living in Boyne City. During the summers he enjoyed boating on Lake Charlevoix, and during the winters he enjoyed skiing at Boyne Mountain.

He is preceded in death by his parents George and Virginia; and his sister Kerrie.

Donations in James’ memory can be made to the Lake Charlevoix Association.
