James (Jim) L. Carter, 73, of Pellston, MI passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020. He was born in Cheboygan, MI to Bud and Naomi Carter and was one of eight children.
Upon graduating from Pellston High School, Jim began his career in road construction for 50 years and was a proud retired member of the Operating Engineers Local 324.
In addition to his career, he served in the Boy Scouts, Men’s Club at Cross of Christ Church, helped build the veteran’s memorial in Pellston, the restoration and community functions for the Red School House in Brutus, and was good friends with Santa Claus.
An avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, and wood worker, Jim’s family and friends could always count on him to fix anything, share stories, laughter, always be there for them.
He is survived by his forever love and wife Carol, married 55 years and his children Jack (Stacy) and Sarah Carter and his grandchildren Breah and Hanah Carter. He is also survived by his brothers Dick (Mary), Don (Rita), Joe (Carrie), Mike (Carol) Carter, and his sisters Ruth (Jim), Parsons, and Naomi (Diane) Carter, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Bud and Naomi Carter, his brother Jack, sister Jane, James Parsons, and Andrea Rousseau.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2020 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Pellston Pioneer Park at the pavilion. Please bring your own lawn chair.
Face masks will be required by everyone attending, so please bring one with you.
