James A. Fuhrman “Big Jim, Fermi, G” 82 of Harbor Springs, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on September 20, 2022.
He was born May 11, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Aloysius G. Fuhrman and Elizabeth V. (Allison) Fuhrman. He grew up in Birmingham, Michigan and attended Birmingham High School and Ferris State University.
On May 18, 1963, he married Judith Marie Wiar at St. Veronica Church in Macomb County, East Pointe, Michigan.
He worked in public relations for General Motors for many years. He was a member of Holy Childhood of Jesus Church in Harbor Springs.
Jim had a passion for working on anything with a motor. He loved working on cars, trucks, and tractors. Jim also enjoyed racing cars, building model trains, model rockets, model cars, boating, bowling, and birdwatching. More than anything he loved being with his family.
Jim is survived by his five loving children, Robert James (Patty Shepler) Fuhrman, Michael Jon Fuhrman, Joseph Christopher (Carolynn Stewart) Fuhrman, Kathleen Marie (Doug) Lauer, and Thomas Patrick (Charity) Fuhrman; 12 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; his sister, Mary (Hugh) Dean; 4 nieces; 2 nephews; and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Judith Fuhrman.
There will be a Memorial Mass at Holy Childhood of Jesus Church on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation the hour prior. Father James Bearss will officiate.
There will also be a Celebration of Life, October 7, 2022 at the American Legion (101 East 3rd Street, Harbor Springs, MI 49740) from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
