James Michael Moyer, 71 of Boyne City, died August 19, 2025, at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.
James was born October 29, 1953, in Petoskey, the son of Ocy Lake and Jerry Moyer. He grew up in Boyne City and attended Boyne City Public Schools.
On August 2, 1980, he married Suwanna (Charoy) Moyer in Puerto Rico.
James retired from the United States Navy after 20 honorable years of service. During his time, he was stationed in Ft. Meade, Misawa Japan, Edzel Scotland, and Sugar Grove West Virginia.
He loved to watch tv shows, old westerns, and all the kid shows with his daughters and granddaughter.
James was loved immensely by his family, and he loved them. No matter what the problem, he was there to help however he could. A wonderful husband, provider, and Dad. None could compare to him. He had the most beautiful bright blue eyes, a trait that skipped his daughters, but were passed down to his granddaughter. Behind that often-grumpy face was a man with the biggest heart and so much love. He loved to make funny faces in pictures, much to his wife’s annoyance, but his daughters loved it and always joined in. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
James is survived by his wife Suwanna Moyer; children Krisanna Moyer, Cassandra (Lisa Odaffer) Moyer, and Adora (Ryan) Dubinsky; and granddaughter Layla Dubinsky.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jerry and Ocy Moyer; and by his brothers, Lloyd, Lawrence, and Barry Moyer.
Arrangements are in the care of Stackus Funeral Home.
