James Page Obituary

James (Jim) Page passed away peacefully on January 24, 2023.  He was born September 12, 1944, to Lyle and Olive (Ralls) Page.

When Jim was young, his dad worked as a marine engineer; for a time, the family lived on a houseboat on the Mississippi River before returning to Cheboygan.  Graduating from Cheboygan Area Schools in 1963, Jim earned All-State honors on the football field.  He joined the U.S. Army in 1964, and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.  Jim, himself, spent many years out on the Great Lakes as a engineer, eventually retiring from the USGS.

Jim had a great sense of humor and could always be counted on for a joke or a good prank.  He was a true friend and all-around great guy; always eager to help anyone who needed it, in any way he could.

He loved his family beyond measure.  He is survived by his two daughters with Arlene Darling, Kimberely Page and Trisha (Darrin) Deeter, along with four grandsons:  Lawrence, Joshua, Andrew, and Justin.  He delighted in teaching the grandkids (along with bonus grandkids and friends) how to play baseball and poker – teasing them the whole time.  Jim enjoyed watching football.  He was known to place a wager with his co-workers, always in support of “his” Michigan Wolverines.

Also surviving Jim are two brothers, Lyle and David, many cousins, nieces and nephews and lifelong friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Linda and brother Bob.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 28th, at Nordman-Christian Funeral Home from 12-2pm, with a sharing of memories beginning at 1pm.
