James Robajdek Obituary

James F. “Jim” Robajdek, age 78, of Cheboygan passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 after a long battle with Parkinson’s at McLaren Hospital in Petoskey.  He was born January 1, 1941 in Riggsville on the Dotksi farm, the son of Manchester and Stella (Dotski) Robajdek.  He was a 1959 graduate of Pellston High School.  He married the love of his life, Patricia Mushlock on May 26, 1962 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Cheboygan.

Jim owned and operated Great Lakes Landscaping and Excavating for many years alongside his wife Pat and son Scott, retiring in 2006.  He was a member of St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church and the Cheboygan Eagles.  He enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and Lions, fishing, was an avid bowler and at one time had the highest score of 298 at Gold Front Lanes.  Many years were spent on the farm tinkering with “antique relics”,  raising and training Belgian horses and going to the local horse pulls with his family.  He enjoyed rabbit hunting and went on numerous hunting and four wheeling trips with his brother-in-laws and friends.  The truest joy of Jims life was his family, he loved watching his grandkids grow up and having a home full of love and laughter.

Jim is survived by his wife Patricia, his four children, Karen (Russ) Brewster, Sharon (Rick ) LaHaie, Jeanette (Vince) Mollen and Scott Robajdek, all of Cheboygan, his sister, Janice (Ed) Krueger of Cheboygan, seven grandchildren, Melissa, Ryan (Dana), Ricky (Karrie), and Meghan LaHaie, Josh and Jenna Mollen, and Autumn Brewster, two great grandchildren, Reed LaHaie and Eleanor LaHaie, sisters-in-law, Florence Caswell, Mary Bur, Alice Mushlock, and Collette Mushlock, his brother-in-law, Robert (Diane) Mushlock and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial mass will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday, January 14 at 11:00 AM with Father Duane Wachowiak officiating.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Bishop Baraga School or the Parkinson’s Foundation.  Arrangements are being handled by the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home.
