Jane (Thompson) Koper of Petoskey passed away peacefully at MediLodge of Cheboygan on November 21, 2020.
She was born on September 4, 1920 the daughter of Charles and Ruby Thompson. Jane spent her childhood in Bliss Township, and later in Bay View, where she enjoyed many happy memories with her grandparents, Alfred and Lucinda Kingman. Jane married Frank F. Koper, Jr. They built a family and raised four beautiful daughters in Petoskey.
Over her lifetime, Jane worked as cook for many area restaurants, among them, The Perry Hotel, Park Garden Café, and many years at Bob’s Place in Alanson. She loved and enjoyed her work.
Jane enjoyed morel mushroom hunting, black licorice, Sunday drives, country music, polka dancing, fishing, adventures in the Upper Peninsula, and most importantly her family. She has left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memories to be shared for generations.
She is survived by her daughters Mary Jane (Jack) Banwell, Patricia Starr, Beverly Baker, and Betty Enrietti. As well as, three generations of loved grandchildren.
Brothers, Charles and Norman Thompson, sister, Marion Peterson, and longtime companion, Dana Kilpatrick all preceded her in death. As well as her beloved sons-in-laws, Lee Lasley, Richard “Dick” Starr, and Sid Baker.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 27th from 10-11am at The Cross in The Woods in Indian River with the funeral Mass beginning at 11am. Interment will be at the Little Traverse Twp. Cemetery in Conway following. Due to Covid, a mask must be worn and social distancing observed.
