Janet Marie Jackimowicz—beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend—passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 17, 2025, at the age of 79.
Born on September 20, 1945 to Leo and Mary Jane Sobleski, Janet was the fifth of their 18 children. She dedicated 42 years to hospital work and retired from Northern Michigan Hospital.
Janet is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Stanley Paul Jackimowicz, and their children: Rich (Susie), Marty (Shelly), and Rose Wodek (Keven). She was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren—Micah, Katelyn, Libby, Samantha, Allison, and Maya.
Nothing mattered more to Janet than her family and her faith. She attended church every Saturday night, and she loved sipping coffee and laughing with her sisters. Janet loved Polish music and always knew which festivals had the best bands.
Janet and her husband affectionately called each other “Honeybabes.” The two of them lived for the moments shared with their grandkids over the past 26 years, making special bonds with all of them.
Whether you were family, a friend, or a stranger, she made you feel welcomed into her home. Her life was a testament to compassion, generosity, and service for others. Her warmth and laughter will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
There will be a visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Stone Funeral Home, with a recitation of the rosary at 6:30 p.m.
Her Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Cross in the Woods Shrine, with a one-hour visitation prior to Mass.
