Celebrating the Life of Janet Marie Wieland
Janet Marie Wieland, a beloved mother, devoted wife, talented designer, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully in her home on June 29, 2025, in Petoskey, Michigan, at the age of 73. Born on November 21, 1951, in Flint, Michigan, Jan was the cherished daughter of the late Jim and Pauline Angle. She grew up in Grand Blanc, graduating from Grand Blanc High School in 1969. Jan continued her education at Michigan State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Design, a degree that would shape her remarkable career.
Jan’s passion for design led her to Bunday's Furniture in Lansing and later to Puff's Furniture of Petoskey, where she honed her skills and brought beauty into countless homes. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly when she co-founded and operated Wieland Interiors alongside her husband, Larry Wieland. Beyond her accomplished design career, Jan also embraced her love for animals, obtaining certification from the Paragon School of Pet Grooming and establishing her own business, Happy Tails Pet Grooming.
A lifelong advocate for youth development and a lover of all creatures, Jan was deeply involved in 4H all her adult life. Her dedication to equestrian sports continued as she generously volunteered for the Petoskey High School Equestrian Team, lending her expertise to the drill team and Pony Club, inspiring many young riders.
Jan was known for her boundless generosity, unwavering positivity, and genuine willingness to reach out and help those in need. She cultivated many long-lasting friendships throughout her life, a testament to her kind spirit and loving heart. Her warm smile and benevolent nature brightened the lives of everyone she met.
Jan's kindness, creative vision, and dedication to her family, friends, and community will be deeply missed. She is the loving wife of 45 years to Larry Wieland; devoted mother of Christopher Wieland and Emily Nelson (née Wieland); and proud grandmother of Oliver, Elliot, Beau, and Benny. She is survived by her siblings, Jim Angle and Susan Damone (née Angle). Jan's legacy of creativity, hard work, boundless love, and enduring friendships will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
A memorial service is tentatively scheduled for spring of 2026.
