Jessica Keys Obituary

Jessica Katherine Keys, 39, of Boyne Falls, died April 7, 2024 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey, after a lengthy battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Jessica was born April 11, 1984, in Petoskey, the daughter of Gary and Sandra (Massey) Robinson. She graduated from Petoskey High School in 2002.

On October 2, 2010, she married the love of her life Danual Keys. They made their home in Boyne Falls and welcomed the birth of their twin boys, Noah and Elijah, in 2011.

Jessica loved being a mom. She was an active participant in everything her boys did. She enjoyed volunteering at their school events, watching them play sports, and boating together on Crooked Lake. She could often be heard ‘coaching’ the boy’s football and basketball games from the bleachers. She liked to play golf, work out, soak up the sun, and watch Detroit Lions football. She was a true fan of the Lions, in the good seasons and the bad, and tried to make at least one game in person every year.

Jessica was a believer in Jesus Christ. She was an active member at Genesis Church in Petoskey and belonged to a women’s bible study group. Her true ministry was helping the unhoused population through work with the Nehemiah Project. She was always thinking of others and how she could help.

Although she was first diagnosed with cancer over twelve years ago, you’d hardly know it. She rarely complained about treatments or how she was feeling. She was a fighter. She prayed daily and kept a positive attitude throughout her cancer journey. Jessica’s first priority was making sure those around her were taken care of, she was a force for good. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband Danual Keys of Boyne Falls; her sons Noah and Elijah Keys; parents Gary and Sandra Robinson of Petoskey; brother Joshua Robinson (Andrea Stine); sister Jordan Robinson (Justin Willson) of Elmira; nieces and nephews, Isaac and Kalob Fortune, Willow Willson, Zeta, Miles, Malcolm, Eris, Maisyn, Kyla and Moses Keys; her grandmothers, Virginia Stephenson and Joan Robinson; Danual’s parents Lynn and Sheldon Robinson and Randy and Rae Keys; brother-in-law Randy (Katie) Keys, sister-in-law Dominique (Nick) Still; and brother-in-law Joey (Brittney) Keys.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Roy Massey and Louis “Dale” Robinson.

There will be a memorial service at Genesis Church on April 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation the hour prior. Pastor Norm Byers will officiate.
