Joann Miller Obituary

Joann Grace Miller, age 89 of Cheboygan passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021 surrounded by family. She was born September 7, 1932 in Ashtabula, Ohio to Milo and Murtle(Kopeka) Kauppenan. She married Masil Miller.

She was known for being a great cook and her crafting abilities, especially when it came to knitting, sewing, and making ceramic art. Joann also enjoyed bird watching. She spent most of her time taking care of her children. Her favorite thing was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grand mother.

Survivors include her five children; Mark (Sally) Miller, Linda (John) Friske, Kathleen Driest, Anthony (Dorothea) Miller, David (Ila) Miller, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joann is preceded in death by her husband Masil, siblings; William (Lorraine) Kauppanen, MaryJane (Ken) Simmons, children; Deborah and Lisa Miller, daughters-in-law; Denise and Sherry Miller, and son-in-law; Donald Driest.

The family is planning a graveside service in the spring.
