Joanne Grubaugh

Joanne Grubaugh, age 94, of Petoskey, passed away on August 29, 2025, at Villa at the Bay in Petoskey.

Joanne was born on May 30, 1931 in Alma, MI, the daughter of Rolland and Alberta (Branton) Grubaugh. Joanne was one of the first to join the Peace Corps and served multiple tours; receiving a personal “Thank you letter” from President John F. Kennedy.  She was most proud of her time in the Air Force.  She flew the smaller planes because women weren’t allowed to fly the big planes at that time.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place and burial will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Littlefield Township Cemetery.
