John Patrick Griffin

John Patrick Griffin, 79 of Petoskey, Michigan, passed away at his home on May 21, 2022.

Son of Jack and Pat Griffin, John was born on December 15, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan. John grew up in Redford Twp., Michigan and graduated from St. Agatha High School in 1961.

He then joined the Air Force and trained at Lackland A. F. Base in the Military Police. John served four years and was stationed in Goose Bay, Labrador and Greenland.

After leaving the Air Force he lived in Atlanta, Georgia for a few years before moving to northern Michigan- a place he loved and lived for over 40 years! He enjoyed many years as a bartender and taxi driver in the Petoskey and Harbor Springs area.

John is preceded in death by his mother Patricia and father John. He leaves behind six siblings: Mike of Naples, FL; Marylou Alex of Walled Lake, MI; Peggy Wilson of Shorewood, MN; Patti (Luther) Matthews of White Lake, MI; Susan Buckley of Grosse Pointe, MI and Danny (Suzanne) of Naples, FL. Also, close cousins Joe and Debbie Griffin of Harbor Springs as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Private services will be held at a later date. If you would like to make a donation in John’s memory, he supported St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the Friendship Center of Petoskey and C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
