Jack Krause, 84 of Cheboygan passed away on April 15, 2025. Born to Willard and Virginia Krause on October 10, 1940, they lived for many years in Grosse Pointe Woods. On July 21, 1967 he married his life-long love Linda Louise Fogt. They celebrated 57 years together last summer.
Jack ended up following the family electrical business to Indian River, Michigan in the early 70’s where he was a foreman. He and his late, older brother Roy were both third-generation electricians and were required to be part of the family’s business where they each earned electrical licenses before moving on to their own careers. Jack took pride in his many different jobs and talents. Before moving “up north”, he was a test car driver where his accounts reflect a love for the track. Jack followed his heart and, much to his father’s chagrin, acquired his Master in Fine Arts degree from Wayne State University. He had an interest and talent for most mediums but was most inspired by bronze sculpting. He shared his love for art with others by teaching adults and children and becoming a member of the Cheboygan Arts Council.
Undoubtedly his most fulfilling work was participating in the creation of art. Later, he obtained his real estate license and was a realtor for a number of years. He eventually retired from the Cheboygan County Equalization Department.
Jack was a dreamer and a romantic with a passion for learning and the outdoors, where he would often spend time gardening, hunting, and fishing. He collected stamps, coins, sports memorabilia, rocks, searched for hidden treasures, panned for gold, and loved the wonder of the paranormal. He would happily go into great detail about any of those topics when he encountered others with similar interests. He shared his interests with his wife Linda; children Dawn (Pat) Marvin and Tim (Abbey) Krause; and grandkids Aurora (Leyton) Gaishin, Hartley Marvin, and Jack, Leah, and Emmett Krause. He is survived by his sister Nancy (Chuck) Barnes from Minnesota, who traveled to be by his side in his final hours. He was a proud member of the Masonic Pellston Lodge #440 for 50 years.
There will be a visitation and service held on Saturday, April 26th at St. Thomas Lutheran Church where Pastor Dave Hueter will officiate. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and the service will follow at 11:00 AM. Memorial donations in Jack’s name can be made to St. Thomas Lutheran Church.
