John Robert Leow

John Robert Leow died unexpectedly on Aug. 12, 2020 at his home in Huntsville, Al.

John was born Dec. 22, 1957 in Petoskey, MI. son of Frank J. and Jean A (Falk) Leow. John was raised in Petoskey, MI where he attended St. Francis X. School and Petoskey High School graduating in 1976. He was active in Little League, Boy Scouts and was an Altar Boy.

After graduation, John proudly served in the U.S. Army for 16 years. He was stationed in El Paso, TX, Korea, Germany, Kansas and Huntsville, AL.

He married the love of his life Beate in June, 1991 and she preceded him in death July, 1996.

After his retirement from the army, John enjoyed Nascar, cooking and his cigars.

John is survived by brothers Henry of Cheboygan and Dale of Vanderbilt. Sisters Debra (Jerome) Green, Donna Leow and Elizabeth (Mike) Avery of Petoskey, MI and Linda Leow of Charlevoix. Half-sister Fran (Pete) Krawetz of Archer, Fla, many nieces and nephews and good friends Dennis and Judy Cassidy.

John was preceded in death by his wife Beate, his parents and several half-sisters.

There will be a memorial Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church on October 21, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. with a burial immediately following at St. Francis Cemetery in Petoskey. We ask that anyone attending please follow the recommended CDC guidelines of wearing a mask or face covering while inside the church and please practice social distancing.
