John Sterling Logan, Sr., 91, of Petoskey, Michigan, passed away on November 25, 2025, at his home at Independence Village.
Son of William and Florence (Snow) Logan, John was born in Helena, Montana on February 23, 1934. He lived in various places in the west before moving to Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. After high school he went to Pennsylvania State University and earned an engineering degree. He was recruited by Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan.
On November 7, 1959, John married Gwendolyn Bickford of New Hampshire, who was working as a biologist in Detroit. They had one son in 1960, John Jr.
In the 60's he worked on Military Vehicles and helped in the development of the M656 missile carrier. He was also picked to help create a new product for Ford, the "People Mover". One of which was in Dearborn. The last part of his career he spent on test operations making vehicles safer and quieter.
In his leisure time he could be found in his garage or shop working on his cars or building things. He had a love of cars he shared with his son.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years.
He will be missed by his son John and his wife Laurie, and grandchildren Geordie Wilkie, Maeve Wilkie and Owen Wilkie.
