Joseph Borowy Obituary

Joseph Charles Borowy, age 66, of Harbor Springs, Michigan, died at his home on October 10, 2025. Born in Pontiac, Michigan, on August 30, 1959, Joe lived a life filled with creativity, humor, hard work, and deep love for his family.

He was very proud of his Polish heritage, their traditions and cuisine.  Joe cherished all of the fishing and camping memories he made with his dad and brothers.  His favorite was a road trip from Harbor Springs to Alaska and the Yukon.  He said he’s never seen anything more beautiful!  There were also many camping and fishing trips to northern Canada.  The boys would set up camp and Dad got out his axe, chopped the wood and started preparing dinner.

During his senior year in high school, he was hired at MSU Management Education Center as a conference coordinator and worked his way up to Assistant Manager.  However, Joe was an entrepreneur at heart.  While still employed with MSU, he decided to launch a sign company with his brother-in-law, Larry.  From there, he went on to own a sheet metal shop in downtown Royal Oak. His career later led him to northern Michigan where he joined his father as a homebuilder.  He enjoyed getting up early and studying his blueprints to see how he could improve them “just a little bit better”.   He loved to sit and just think.

Joe was a storyteller at heart, always ready with a kind word, a joke, or a great tale combined with a little embellishment (well ok, maybe alot) . He was happiest traveling the Caribbean with his beloved wife Teresa and their beautiful daughter Natalie.  Natalie was the joy of his life.  He was so proud of her and said he didn’t have to worry about her succeeding in life because “she was him.” He enjoyed planning family vacations, making lasting memories filled with laughter and love.  He was definitely the “life of the party” and made everyone smile/laugh with his great wit and sense of humor.  Everyone needs an “Uncle Joe”!

One of his favorite songs was “I’m too sexy for my shirt”.  Next time you hear that on the radio, just picture him smiling and strutting his stuff, as only he could!  Long live Chunki Hunki!

Joe is survived by his wife Teresa, his daughter Natalie, his sister Jane Dorozan, his brother Jon Borowy, as well as 16 nieces and nephews, several cousins and 1 remaining aunt and uncle.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Lenore (Gillard) Borowy, father Walter Borowy and brother Jerry Borowy.  He leaves behind not only family, but many friends who will remember him for his warmth, wit, and generosity.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Church or legacytradecollege.org in Joe’s memory.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Friday October 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM.
