Josephine (Judy) Honor was born October 12, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois and passed away peacefully on September 13, 2023. Daughter of Irene and Walter Honor. She lived in Chicago throughout high school and attended Michigan State University majoring in hotel and restaurant management. After a brief period working as an assistant auditor in a Chicago hotel, she joined the Grand Hotel as an assistant to the General Manager working on Mackinac Island in the summer and in the corporate office during the winter months. In 1962 she joined her mentor, Nicholas Bicking, in his new acquisition Romana Park Hotel, renamed Harbour Inn, as Resident Manager. After the sale of Harbour Inn, Judy joined Stafford’s Bay View Inn. For twenty years she was the General Manager of Safford’s Bay View Inn and Stafford’s Perry Hotel and retired as Vice President of Hotels for Stafford’s Hospitality, Inc. working on special projects and refurbishing projects for the company. She was a member of the Zonta Club of Petoskey as well as Holy Childhood Church. Over the years she has held offices in both the Harbor Springs Chamber of Commerce and Petoskey Chamber of Commerce, Little Traverse Civic Theater. Little Traverse Historic Society, Business and Professional Women’s Club of Petoskey and Michigan Hotel, Motel, and Resort Management. At the time of passing she was President of the Friendship Center of Harbor Springs Board of Directors and Vice President of the Village of Hillside Resident Council. She was proceeded in death by her parents and brother Patrick and is survived by nieces and nephews: Walter Honor, Louise and Michael Bush, Betsy and John Belbot, Thomas and Laurie Honor. Great nieces and nephews: Matt Bush, Emily and Troy Bokosky, Abigail and Patrick Grodecki, Nick and Dan Byrd, and Andrea and Tim Thielke.
A service for Judy will be at Holy Childhood of Jesus Catholic Church in Harbor Springs on October 6, 2023 at 11am with a visitation at 10am
