Judy Goldsmith Obituary

Judy Kay Goldsmith, 76, of Petoskey, passed away unexpectedly on May 11, 2025.

She was born on December 1, 1948, in Charlevoix, Michigan, the daughter of Franklin and Irene (Sutliff) Cellner. Judy grew up on a dairy farm alongside her sisters, Sandy and Laurie, and graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1967.

On April 8, 1972, she married the love of her life, William “Bill” Goldsmith.

Judy worked in accounting and bookkeeping for Dunstan Supply Company until her retirement in 2003. Following her retirement, she continued working with Bill at his business, Goldsmith Well Drilling.

Judy had a passion for quilting, sewing, and needlepoint. She was a longtime member of a quilting guild of about 15 women who gathered in each other’s homes for quilting parties. Together, they made blankets for children in the pediatric ward at the hospital in Petoskey.

She was an active and faithful volunteer, serving for many years in the cafeteria at Walloon Lake Community Church and with the Manna Food Project. Judy was known for her kind heart, warm smile, and generous spirit. She was deeply caring, loving, and always had a way of making others feel welcome.

Judy is survived by her husband, Bill Goldsmith of Petoskey; her sisters, Sandy (David) Jeltema of Rockford, MI, and Laurie Cellner of Ann Arbor, MI; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A visitation will be held at Stone Funeral Home on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Her funeral service will take place at Stone Funeral Home on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with a time of gathering one hour prior. Rev. David Behling will officiate.
