June Bosworth Jackson, age 87, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2022 surrounded by her sons.
Born in 1934 in London England, she moved to Evanston Illinois in 1938 and then to Harbor Springs in 1977. She graduated from Roycemore Academy and attended Knox College.
June had a servant’s heart. She served the Emmet County community as the County Fair Manager, Chair of the Board of Canvassers, and served on several other local boards and commissions.
She will be remembered as a lion of the Republican Party having served in many capacities including serving as the chair of the Republican Women’s Federation of Michigan. Her uncle, Charles Gates Dawes was the Vice President of the United States under Calvin Coolidge. June was passionate about horses. She began riding as a young woman and in 1978 she opened Sogonosh Breeding Ranch and Riding Stable in Harbor Springs.
She was preceded in death by her half-brother Bos Hart and the love of her life, husband Richard Jackson. She is survived by three sons and their wives William and (Kim) Gallagher, Mason Gallagher, Gordon and (Tamela) Gallagher. Grandchildren Nicole and (David) Kavin, Della Gallagher, Amara and (Patrick) Terry, Padley Gallagher, Prescott Gallagher and one great granddaughter Addie Kavin. During the Covid pandemic she relied on the loving company of her golden retrievers Samantha, Sunshine and Rascal.
Friends are invited to visit and share happy stories at Schiller Funeral Chapel, Harbor Springs on Saturday, May 14th from 4pm to 7pm. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. The family requests Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers be made to the Little Traverse Bay Humane Society
