June Marguerite Vargo

June M. Vargo, 91 of Petoskey, Michigan went home to her Lord and Savior on November 21, 2020. She died peacefully surrounded by the family she loved.

June was born July 27, 1929, the daughter of Ann and Joseph Schneider. She attended St. Francis Xavier in Petoskey, and then graduated from Petoskey High School in 1947.

June married George Vargo on June 30, 1951. Together they had four children and shared 69 years happily married. She devoted her life to her family.

June was a life-long member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Petoskey, Michigan and sang in the choir for many years. June worked at J.C. Penney in Petoskey for many years in retail. She also worked at Spencer Drugs and Walenta's Drug Store both in Petoskey, Michigan.

June enjoyed bowling, sewing, baking, cooking and in her later years she became an avid reader and crossword puzzle solver. June loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she adored. She was a strong-willed woman with a big heart. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

June is survived by her husband George Vargo; her children: Michael (Joanie) Vargo of Petoskey, Robert Vargo of Petoskey, Thomas Vargo of Petoskey and Laurie (Douglas) Clark of Eaton Rapids, Michigan; her four grandchildren; her six great-grandchildren; her sister Mary Jo (John) Parker; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father Ann and Joseph Schneider; her sister Veronica (Schneider) Austin; and her nephew Steven Parker.

Those wishing to make a charitable donation in June's memory are suggested by family to consider Brother Dan's Food Pantry.

A memorial mass for June will be officiated by Father Greg on November 28, 2020 at 10:30 AM at St. Francis Xavier Church in Petoskey. A gathering will begin at 9:30 AM.
