Kathryn Wascher Obituary

Kathryn Miles Wascher died on March 27, 2020 at the Hiland Cottage Hospice in Petoskey, Michigan.

She was born on March 6, 1947 in Little Traverse Hospital in Petoskey to William Walker Miles and Dorothy Gruler Miles.

When Kathy was 10 years old, the family moved to Saginaw, Michigan where she attended and graduated from St. Helen's Catholic School.

She had various employment as a cashier at a local bank, administrative secretary to the Nursing Services for several years in the former Burns Clinic, and as a receptionist for a podiatrist.

She had a passion for volunteering for Brother Dan's Food Pantry and attended church at the Sacramentines. Her other passion was gardening. She couldn't wait for spring to clean her gardens and the family plot.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Carol Ann Granlund.

Kathy is survived by her son Patrick (Christine) and their two children Asher and Susannah; her brother, Jim and wife Beverly of Southern Pines, North Carolina; and brother-in-law David Granlund. She has a wonderful array of cousins and nieces who are all dear to her.

Kathy was a lover of God, family and the environment. She will be greatly missed by all those who remain.

Suggestions for those wishing to send a memorial are Brother Dan's Food Pantry or the Sacramentines Augustine Center.

Kathy's family would like to send a sincere thank you to Dr. John Diedrich and Dr. Dalton Miranda, the staff at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital, the Hospice staff, and all of those who helped assist Kathy in managing her health issues over the years.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date and will be announced by Stone Funeral Home of Petoskey.
