Kenneth Bobby O’Brien, 65 of Alanson, Michigan died August 7, 2020.

Ken was born on December 9, 1954 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, the son of Harlen and Dorothy (Noggles) O’Brien. He went to Soo Area Public Schools where he dropped out in the 10th grade. Ken worked at the Soo Threate, Reid Metal, and then Hoover Percision Products, which ended into full disability.

Ken in his early years enjoyed working on vehicles, especially his 67’ Chevy Chevelle. He enjoyed spending time with his family by going camping or taking them to special places. He was willing to try and help anyone, which included a few friends of his daughters who would even call him “Dad”. Ken enjoyed going to yard sales also.

Later on in life he enjoyed spending any time possible with the girls and their families. He would make numerous calls to make sure everything was fine and they arrived home safe from work or trips.

Ken is survived by his wife Evelyn (Kibble) O’Brien of Alanson; his first wife Kate Smith-Moyer; his children Dori O’Brien of Petoskey, Donna (O’Brien) Leslie of Pellston, Krystal O’Brien of Boyne City, Scottie MacDonald of Alanson, Karrie (O’Brien) and Alex Brown, Racheal Shield of Kinross, and Kerry (Elienberger) Maughannen of Detroit; his eight grandchildren; his mother-in-law Rosie (Wilson) Kibble; his siblings: Lewis O’Brien, Albert and Kathy (Piche) O’Brien, Betty Smart, Jim and Julie (Helinski) Kibble, Donelda (Kibble) and Jason Vanscoyoc; and his many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Harlen and Dorothy (Noggles) O'Brien; brothers-in-law Robert Smart and Todd Melinger; sister-in-law Sherri (Robineau) O'Brien; and son-in-law Brian Leslie;

There will be a gathering on August 15, 2020 at his address in Alanson, 10181 Mission Road, to celebrate his life and talk of memories. Everyone is welcome to come who knew this great man. The gathering begins at 4:00 PM with a bonfire to follow.
