Kevin Bruce Stackus

Kevin Bruce Stackus of Boyne City, Michigan passed away on May 26th, 2022 after his fight with cancer.

Kevin was born on June 24th, 1956 to James D. & Charlotte (VanNornum) Stackus in Boyne City and was an outstanding ski racer and high jumper. In 1973, the 5’9” senior broke the conference high jump record by clearing a bar set at 6’2 ¼ “. 5 ¼” over his head. A record which would not be beat for some 20 years. While attending school, Kevin met Dawn E. Gahn who would become his wife on November 9th, 1974.

Kevin and Dawn had two sons, Schuyler and Collin, and daughter Bethany. Kevin worked until his retirement at EJIW. He loved skiing, fly fishing, camping, and hunting. He was known as a man with golden hands as there was nothing he couldn’t do or fix. He will forever be remembered as a loving and cherished friend, husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Dawn (Gahn) Stackus, and three children Schuyler (Rebecca) Stackus, Collin (Lindsie) Stackus, and Bethany (Nick) Wilhelm and three grandchildren Tristan Stackus, Lily and Kaytee Wilhelm. He is also survived by his step mother Eleanor Stackus, two sisters Leslee Wiltjer and Cheryl Stackus.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Craig and Scott Stackus and sister Kelly.

A celebration of life will be held at Kevin’s childhood home, Stackus Funeral Home in Boyne City on Thursday, June 2nd from 4-7pm.
