Kevin Zimmerman, 55 of Boyne Falls, Michigan, died unexpectedly at home on December 30, 2025. He was born February 19, 1970, in Charlevoix, Michigan, and was the son of Henry Zimmerman and Mabel (Clausen) Howard. He attended Boyne City Schools. Kevin was a hardworking man with a heart of gold. He had several jobs throughout his life where he made numerous lifelong friends. Throughout his working career, Kevin worked for Billy’s D’s Pizza in Boyne, Dura Automotive Systems in East Jordan, Northern Diecast in Harbor Springs, and finished his working career at H & H Tube in Vanderbilt where he was recognized as Employee of the Year two different times. Kevin held many different roles in the manufacturing process until his working years were cut short due to health problems.
Kevin will be remembered, above all, for the endless love he had for his three children and his grandchildren. Together with his high school sweetheart, Laurie (Parks) Moore, he had his oldest daughter, Kyrsha. Several years later, Kevin and his former wife Reba Francis had Collin and Olivia. His legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren in the memories they shared and the unconditional love he had for them. Whether it was teaching Kyrsha how to drive on the back roads without her mom finding out, passing down life skills for hunting and fishing to Collin, or teaching Olivia that true wealth isn’t what you have, but who you love and how you live.
He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially going out and sharing a good meal with friends. Those moments of laughter and connection always meant a lot to him. Just as special to Kevin was going up to the farm, where spending time with his mom and the rest of his family brought him comfort and happiness. Whether it was having a cookout, bonfires, or simply just being together; those times reflected how much family meant to him and how deeply he cherished being surrounded by the people that he loved.
Kevin had a deep love for the outdoors, especially fishing-whether from a boat or the shore, it never mattered if he had a line in the water. The Boyne River held a special place in his heart, a spot where he felt most at peace. He also enjoyed hunting and spending time outside. In his younger years, Kevin competed in tough man contests, earning a reputation as a force to be reckoned with-strong, determined, and never one to back down. He faced each battle in his life with that same grit and passion, and his perseverance will be remembered by all that knew him.
Kevin is survived by his children, Kyrsha (Robert) Moore of Stanton, Collin (Sarah) Zimmerman of Petoskey, and Olivia (Adam) Klimsza of Pellston. His grandchildren, Owen Moore, Theodore Klimsza, and soon-to-arrive granddaughter Zimmerman. He is also survived by his mother, Mabel Howard and stepmother, Alice Zimmerman. He is also survived by his siblings, Darren Zimmerman (Lori Knight), Danielle (Dave) Schmoldt, LeAnn Howard (Kyle Shelly), Jeff Howard, and Harlan Howard. Also, many nieces and nephews which he was very close to, as well as a couple of his very close friends, Mark McGuire and Gerry DeLyon.
He is preceded in death by his father Henry Zimmerman, stepfather Lester Howard, stepbrother Henry Howard, as well as his grandparents Henry Zimmerman Sr., Mary and Maynard Brown, John and Bertha Clausen, and many aunts and uncles.
Services will be held at Stackus funeral home on Monday, January 5 at 11 am, with visitation beginning at 10 am. Reverend David Behling will be officiating, and a luncheon will follow at the Boyne City Eagles. In lieu of flowers, the family would rather you consider a contribution to help with funeral expenses.
