Larry Allen Hanson, 70, passed away at American House Assisted Living in Petoskey while surrounded by family, on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.
He was born January 25, 1951 in Petoskey, Michigan to the late Allen and Ruth (Butler) Hanson. In 1974, he married the love of his life, Linda Roadhouse, and they raised two daughters together, Carrie and Lisa.
Larry received his Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University in 1973, but found his true calling in 1985 with a nursing degree from North Central Michigan College. He practiced nursing for over 30 years.
Larry enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing, music, and traveling, but mostly he loved spending time with his family. Building his home in the same neighborhood as his parents allowed him to see his parents daily, and also allowed his children to play with their grandparents and great-grandparents, and instill in the children the same love of family that he found so important.
Larry is survived by his two daughters, Carrie and Lisa (Chad) of Petoskey; two grandsons, Tyler and Cody; one brother Steve of Surgoinsville, TN; and two sisters, Jeanne of Petoskey, and Cyndi of Savannah, GA; three nephews, Frankie, Andrew, and Eric, and one niece, Amanda.
Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Linda; and his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the Petoskey United Methodist Church at 12:00 noon with a one-hour visitation prior to the service. It is strongly suggested that anyone in attendance wear a face mask while inside the church.
Memorial gifts may be directed to Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute (4100 John R, Detroit, Michigan 48201).
The family wishes to extend their thanks and gratitude to the nursing staff at American House of Petoskey and McLaren Hospice of Petoskey for all of their compassionate and professional care during Larry’s last days.
