Lawrence “Larry” Leon Hofbauer passed away on June 21, 2025, at Blissful Cottage after a short time with liver cancer. Larry was born on August 20, 1939, to Joseph and Mary (Donnelly) Hofbauer. He was the next to youngest of 15 children.
On July 20, 1963, he married Dianne Paulsen at Holy Childhood Church in Harbor Springs, Michigan.
He attended St. Francis Xavier School and St. Francis Xavier Parish. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus.
Larry worked at Victory’s Bowling Alley in Petoskey for several years. Then at A & P until they closed. He worked construction for many years. He then went to work at the Emmet County Building as a maintenance supervisor, retiring in 2003. He would also volunteer his time by working funeral luncheons at St. Francis Church.
He loved to cook and enjoyed making lunch for the employees at work.
Larry always had a big garden and would can hundreds of jars of produce and give most of them away. He was also very crafty and enjoyed making wreaths and centerpieces at Christmas time.
Larry is survived by Dianne, his wife of 61 years, his sons Paul and Mark, his granddaughter Skyler, his grandson Joey, his brother Ron and sister Betty Zaremski.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Loretta Carter and Clara Ellenberger, his brothers Bill, Gene, Jim, Jack, John, Ambrose, Richard, Gerald, Bob and infant brother; His son Joseph; grandson Spencer; parents; and in-laws Chris and Mary Paulsen.

There are no services planned at this time. Arrangements are in the care of Stone Funeral Home.
