Leland J. Rolfe, Sr. passed into eternity Wednesday night, February 10, 2021, at home. He was born on November 27, 1945, in Flint, Michigan, to Leland and Ruth Rolfe. Lee grew up in Lapeer, Michigan. He entered the Army in 1963, serving in Communications in Korea. He was honorably discharged in March 1966.
Lee Rolfe and Twila (Jo) Baker were married December 19, 1970 in Mio, Michigan. They recently celebrated fifty years of marriage in December 2020. Lee and Jo resided in Mio, and Lee worked for the phone company in Rose City. In 1979, he and his family moved to Carp Lake where Lee worked for Century Tel as a Communications Technician. Lee retired from Century Tel in 2007. Lee was a member of the Mackinaw City Bible Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, bird watching, and working with his hands on building projects, especially in the field of electricity. He enjoyed playing the piano and talking with people in the community.
Lee was preceded in death by his father, Leland; his mother, Ruth; his stepfather Chuck Howell; and his son, Benjamin. He is survived by his wife, Twila (Jo) and five children: Wayne, Ron, Amy, Lee, and Lauren; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held in the spring.
