Leo “Bill” William Hoffman, 82, of Petoskey, died unexpectedly on November 4, 2023.
Bill was born on May 24, 1941 in Petoskey, Michigan, the son of Leo and Isabelle (Krussell) Hoffman. He grew up in Petoskey, and attended St. Francis School, graduating in 1959. He also attended a year at North Central Michigan College.
On May 12, 1962, he married Patricia “Pat” Smith at St. Francis Xavier Church.
He was an active member of his church with involvement in St. Francis Solonus Mission Church group, St. Francis Funeral Ministry, and the Sacramentine Chapel in Conway. He was also a member of the Silver King tractor club.
Bill worked with his Dad and his brother Don in the family business and also at Chase Bank as maintenance supervisor for over 40 years, before working in maintenance for the Bank of Northern Michigan. He also worked for three generations of the Curtis family in many capacities.
In his spare time, Bill loved gardening, farming, collecting tractors and anything to do with the outdoors and Mother Earth. He loved wood working and even purchased a sawmill a few years ago which he used to make gifts for friends and family and projects of his own.
Bill is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Pat; their children, Lynn (Michael) Adams, William (Yvonne) Hoffman and Alan (Sherri) Hoffman; grandchildren, Cindy (Kenny) Reaume, Riley Hoffman, and Aislan Hoffman; great-granddaughter Madison; brother-in-law Charles (Carolyn) Smith; sister-in-law Bonnie (Lynn) Godzik; 8 nieces and nephews; and 19 great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his brother Don (Karen) Hoffman.
There will be a visitation at Stone Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 6-8:00 p.m. with recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. with one-hour visitation prior. Father Greg McCallum will officiate.
Donations in memory of Bill are suggested to St. Francis Solonus Mission Church or Brother Dan’s Food Pantry.
