Leona Burrows Obituary

Leona May Clark-Burrows, age 85, of Harbor Springs, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, at Bay Bluffs Emmet County Care Facility.

Leona grew up in Brutus, Michigan, the daughter of Leo Richard Clark and Edith Mayle Clark. She attended Petoskey schools where she graduated in 1959. The same year, in September 1959, she married Chief Petty Officer Jerry Paul Burrows, making their home together in Harbor Springs.

During her working life, Leona dedicated her time as personal home care volunteer, and later a nanny for a local doctor’s family; her grace and compassion preceding her in both roles. Her favorite hobbies were to read, write, and sing praises to God.

Leona is survived by her daughter Geri (Tony) Burrows of Alanson, as well as daughter Mary Anne Burrows of Wisconsin, sons Ken Burrows of Petoskey and Fred Burrows of Mississippi, siblings William (Frances) Clark of Brutus and Charlotte Clark Gregory of Arkansas, fourteen grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Leo Richard and Edith Mayle Clark, four infant siblings, daughter Gwendolyn Stephanie Burrows-Naranjo, sister Emeline Edith Clark-Nestell, and brother Arthur Leroy Clark.

A graveside service will be held for Leona at 3:30 PM on July 22nd at Maple River Cemetery in Brutus, Michigan, followed by a meal from 5:00 to 6:30 PM, prepared at Horton Bay Heritage Farm.
