Les Allen Tebo

Leslie “Les” Allen Tebo, age 68 entered into the presence of the Lord on Friday February 3, 2023 surrounded by family. He was born on September 14, 1954, to Leslie and Virginia (Weston) Tebo.

He spent his entire life in Cheboygan, graduating in 1974. He attended Alpena Community College and Saginaw Valley State University, graduating with a degree in criminal justice. He was hired at the Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Department and spent his career serving in many capacities in the department. 

Les dedicated his life to his family and his community. He married his best friend Victoria (Lahaie) on September 16, 1978 and together they made Cheboygan their lifelong home. They raised two children, Jennifer (Jake) and Dean (Kristin), but his greatest joys were his grandchildren; Brian, Helena, Timothy, Landon, and Lily. His most treasured moments were spent with them, whether it was taking walks with the dog to the ice cream shop, watching Gilligan’s Island, or just talking with them.

Les spent his life in public service. He was a police officer, firefighter, councilmember, and mayor. After his retirement from the Sheriffs Department, he returned to assist the local courts with Sobriety and Drug court. Assisting in the start-up of these programs was very important to Les. His desire was to make an impact on his community and help lead in a positive way. 

During his retirement, he and his bride spent time traveling the Caribbean, Central America, and parts of South America. They enjoyed their vacations together, but especially enjoyed camping trips with their dear friends. Les liked to lift weight and run at the local gym. During hockey season, you could find him watching his grandchildren play at the pavilion. 

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 5:00-8:00pm at Nordman-Christian Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at Faith Baptist Church on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 1:00pm with family greeting friends at 12:00pm.
