Lillian Jankowiak Obituary

 

Lillian S. Jankowiak, age 78, of Indian River passed away Friday, May 3, 2019 at McLaren Hospital in Petoskey. She was born August 8, 1940 in Detroit, the daughter of Walter and Stella (Grochowski) Janik. She graduated from St. Hedwig High School in 1958 and on April 28, 1962, married Gerald "Jerry" Jankowiak who preceded her in death in 2016.

When Lillian was young and living in Detroit she had worked as a waitress as well as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell. She was a member of Cross in the Woods Catholic Church and enjoyed doing word puzzles and playing games with family and friends.

Lillian is survived by her mother, three children, John Jankowiak of Indian River, Barbara Gennette of Indian River and Paul (Deborah) Jankowiak of Afton, six siblings, 11 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Besides her husband Jerry, Lillian was preceded in death by her father, one daughter, Laurie Crutchfield, her sister Adeline Lewandowski and her brother Lou Janik.

The funeral mass will be held at Cross in the Woods on Saturday, May 11 at Noon with the family greeting friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Fr. Michael Haney, O.F.M. will serve as celebrant.  Memorial contributions may be directed to The National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.

Arrangements are being handled by the Lintz Funeral Home.
