Linda Mae Smyth ”Bugs”of Pellston, MI, 73, died Saturday, January 15 at her home in Alanson. Born on November 16, 1948, to Lester and Madeline(Spencley)Clear. Linda wore many hats over her celebrated lifetime: Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Sister, Aunt and Friend as well as Wife and Small Business Owner. She enjoyed her homes on Burt Lake and Alanson, gardening, resale shopping, U of M and MSU sports, casinos and any family activities. Linda, a family and friends knew, was an incredibly giving person, never hesitating to help out family and friends that had a need. She was also known in her day to host legendary New Years Eve get togethers and enjoyed decorating for the holidays to a max. In recent years, Linda spent winters in Port Charlotte, Florida with her husband of 35 years Hugh before his passing in 2013. She is survived by her 4 children: two sons: Dennis Phillips and Randy(Lauren)Phillips; two daughters: Tina Hessel and Yvonne(Nick)Burgess; three brothers: Roger Clear, Scott Clear and Jeff Clear and two sisters; Cindy(Larry)Burkhart and Bonnie(Jim)Marshall; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were brothers Edward, Lester and Clarence(Chub) Clear as well as sister Mary Elder. A small intimate memorial service is planned in Northern MI in the Spring/Summer, date and time TBA, details will be provided when determined.
