Lt. Col. Dale Brummund Obituary

Dale Brummund 84 years old, died at home on July 6, 2022 surrounded by loving family.

Dale was born January 20, 1938 to Henry and Nellie (Wenger) Brummund in Walthill Nebrasaka.

After attending college Dale entered the Air Force proudly serving his country as a B52 pilot and flight instructor for a career spanning 26 years, retiring as a Lt Col in 1980. Eventually moving to Boyne City, Dale owned and operated Boyne City Lanes with his wife Nancy. He especially loved his youth program where he introduced and enjoyed teaching the younger generation. Retiring yet again Dale and Nancy became snowbirds and enjoyed traveling in their RV to escape the harsh Michigan winters. They enjoyed making memories and meeting new friends as they traveled around exploring the states. During summers you might catch Dale on the golf course with his golf buddy Tuck, or in his boat on the lake trying to land that big one!

Family was most important to Dale and he loved spending time with them. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy; children Stephen (Kimberlee) Burpo, Audrey (Matthew) Grassman, Virginia (Gerald) Juncker, Scott (Shannon) Suryan, and Matthew Suryan; brothers Charles (Linda) Brummund, Calvin(Sandy) Brummund; sister-in-law’s Sharon Smorch, Donna Burr; brother-in-law Richard (Shirley) Burr; grandchildren Stephenie (Brian) Ratliff, Sarah Burpo, Christopher Burpo, Joshua Grassman, Hannah Grassman, and Emma Suryan who he loving call "snicklefritz", and his best 4-legged buddy Mulligan; nephews Tracy, Craig (Dana), Michael (Nancy), Patrick (Laurie) and nieces Becky (Mike), Shannon (Tom), Shelly (Dan), three great grandchildren; and many others nieces nephews and close friends.

Predeceased by his parents; sister Eileen; brother-in-law’s Jerry Burr and Kelly Hillier; and nephew Scott Nowland.

Special thanks to Dr. Michael Harmeling, McLaren Hospice and his favorite caregiver Sham.
