A gentle soul of grace and wisdom, Luellen Joanne Newmann (née Burbank) graced this earth with her presence for 84 remarkable years. She was born in the bustling heart of Chicago, Illinois, on a spring day, carrying within her the seeds of a remarkable life that would touch the hearts of many. In East Jordan, Michigan, on November 3, 2023, the world bid farewell to the most amazing human who changed every life she touched.
Luellen, daughter of the late Norman and Marie Burbank, and beloved wife of Ronald Glen Newmann, now joins her loved ones in Heaven, reuniting with her dear daughter, Jennifer Newmann. Though her physical presence has faded, her legacy of love and warmth continues to thrive in the hearts of her surviving children: Janice (Scott) Grill, Jeffrey (Julie) Newmann, and David Newmann (Stacie).
Her spirit lives on in the laughter of her grandchildren: Justin Newmann, Taylore Grill, Sara Newmann, Zoë Newmann, and Lilly Newmann. Her dedication to family was a testament to the boundless affection that illuminated her world. A member of the First Presbyterian Church, her unwavering faith provided solace and strength throughout her journey.
Educated at esteemed institutions, including Northwestern University, Western Michigan University, and Central Michigan University, Luellen’s thirst for knowledge was matched only by her passion for nurturing others. Her compassionate soul thrived in nursing, where her innate empathy and grace radiated brightly. Her ascent to the role of Vice President of Patient Services at Lansing General Hospital was a testament to her unwavering commitment to the well-being of others.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Luellen was a vibrant spirit who reveled in the joys of life. Her love for adventure led her across the globe with her beloved husband, Ronald, creating cherished memories that will endure for generations. Her affinity for the water found home on the gentle ripples of Lake Charlevoix, where she found serenity and joy in the company of cherished friends and family. She often went by the nickname Water Lue.
Luellen’s unwavering commitment to her communities shone brightly through her boundless generosity, touching the lives of countless individuals in need. Her philanthropic endeavors left an enduring legacy of compassion and support, forever enriching the places she called home.
Fondly remembered as the life of the party, Luellen’s vivacious spirit enlivened every gathering. Her effervescent presence will be profoundly missed by all those who were touched by her radiant spirit. Luellen’s beautiful smile brightened the lives of all who knew her, leaving a lasting warmth in our hearts.
Though her earthly journey has come to an end, her spirit will forever illuminate the lives of those she leaves behind. Luellen Joanne Newmann, a beacon of light and love, now rests in the celestial embrace, forever cherished, forever missed, and forever loved.
